ok... Firstly, I do not know the origins of the Olympics. Secondly, this is my first time watching the Olympics. 4 years back, a country held the Olympics. And at that point of year, I was only 7 years old. I did not even know what is Olympics. So, as I grew older, I began to know what is the Olympics.
These are the facts I got on the Internet: (Origins of the Olympics) The Olympic origins story is connected with the tragedy-ridden House of Atreus. Pelops won the hand of his bride, Hippodamia, by competing in a chariot race against her father, King Oinomaos of Pisa, in Elis. Pelops conspired to win the race by replacing the king's chariot's lynchpins with ones made of wax. These melted on the course, throwing the king from his chariot and killing him. After Pelops married Hippodamia, he commemorated his victory with the Olympic Games. These games either expiated his killing or thanked the gods for the victory. (The country that Olympics originated from) The Olympics originated from Greece.
Now you should get the rough ideas the Olympics. I watched the Olympics on television several times. It is kind of interesting. Normally, the sports I watch are Diving, Beach Volleyball, Volleyball, Swimming and many other sports. Frankly speaking, I do not fancy any athletes. I would really wish to participate in the Olympics one day. But I know that this dream will never coome true. Because I am not a sports person. I like the sport Volleyball but maybe I will not have the chance to play seriously.
It is a pity that the Olympics is ending today..(Sunday 24-08-08) The Olympics happened in just a second and now it is over. I had this feeling like the Olympics just began last week only. And now, it finishing. We have to wait for another 4 years and it will be Singapore's turn to hold the Olympics torch.
